Evaluation
For the green screen project I wanted to create a Harry Potter fight scene. When we went to the Harry Potter tour we bought some of the wands so we was able to use them for the film to make the fight look better. We decided who was going to play the villain and the hero in the film. Me and Oskar was going to direct the film and then we would edit it together and Scottie and Syed would edit separately.
We took a long time filming because we wanted to get the film right. We did a lot of different shots with different camera angles of the same shot. We did a POV shot of the villain looking at the hero while fighting. We also had to re take some shots because of mistakes. The props we used when making the film was two wands from the film and a mask of the horror film scream. The only problems we had was not realized until the editing part but there was a crease on the green screen so we could not use the shot in the final cut.
To make the green screen work we would find an image on google and save it onto a hardrive. We would import it into Adobe Premiere. The clip would always have to be on the top line of the timeline. We would then go into video effects, keying then ultra key. We would drag the ultra key onto the clip then in the effect control we would click on the pipette and then click on the green screen and then the image would appear behind the clip. We would have to do this for every shot.
The editing went really well. We started the editing earlier than everyone else but we spent a lot of time perfecting the film and it would change every week where we would add something new. We did a lot of slow motion to build up tension and then we decided to make most of the fight in slow motion because we thought that it looked really good. For the background we wanted something that suits Harry Potter but we could not find a good background for it. Then we had an idea that we would want the battle to be set in the forest. We found a good image of an house surrounded by trees. We used this image but then when it came to editing the image for the different camera angles we thought it would be a good idea for the background to change depending on what the camera was focusing on. So the hero would have his own background as well as the villain, and then when the camera is focusing on the two of them we would have the image of the house. We also had to find a image of some dirt when the characters would be on the floor. We spent a few weeks looking for the right music for the film. When we found some music that we liked we would save it in a playlist on youtube so we could come back to it. We would listen to the music on youtube then play the video in Adobe Premiere to see if it fits. We chose three songs to be used and we would edit the song to make it loud enough that we could hear the sound effects and made sure the music wasn't too loud but you could still hear it. We used some audio effects when the music changed so it didn't sound like the music just cuts halfway through. We also used some video transitions when changing the scene because we thought this looked really good with the slow motion. We changed the effect speed so it would match how fast the scene was. So the clip's speed was on 60% we would make the effect match it.
Once the film was nearly done we decided to make an intro for the film. We went on the website DAfont and found the Harry Potter style. We wrote the title of the film and then put it into photoshop. We saved the image as a PNG file and put it into the film. For the first time we used a black background and smoke. But then we found a intro that would have the camera moving through the clouds. We would download this from youtube and put it into the film. We put the text over it so it looked like the real Harry Potter intro.
Overall I think that the film went really well and all of the group are proud of what we made. We barely had any problems and the film turned out really good. We all worked well together as a group. If I was to make the film again I would make sure there was no creases in the green screen.
